Mauser Rifle Serial Number Identification

I have a Mauser in .270 that I've been told is a large ring Gew98 built in Germany and modified in Turkey. I've reading up on Mausers, trying to learn the history of the gun and its manufacture date. It has no markings on the top of the ring. There are German looking marks on the bottom of the receiver and a Turkish crescent under the bolt handle. I would assume it's not likely to be a matching bolt but there are no serial numbers - even partial - on the parts. The only serial number I've found is on the side of the receiver and is 6 digits (100XXX). The lists I've been able to find show only 4 and 5 digit serials. It's also been modified more recently with a BOLD trigger and some expensive looking side safety (still 3 position). There are no markings under the scope mounts that have been added. I do not have the original stock. I've posted pictures of the markings below. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as the rifle was left to me by a dear friend who recently passed. I will keep it, shoot it and treasure it always.

Does anyone know of a source that gives information on the letter suffix of a serial number. I have an Erfurt 1916, There is a letter suffix below the serial number but I can't figure it out. Is there a chart somewhere that shows all of them, so I can match it up? GEW 98- 19.jpg. Please see the attached photo.
