• Aug 15, 2004. It was made in Germany and the handcarved serial number is 1032. Hohner is still making new button accordions, and they are still a popular brand. They have a reputation as. My oldest button accordion is a Hohner Corona II in G-C-F from about 1950, and to my ears it has a really sweet sound.

Very rare 1938 Hohner black 'OrganettaIV' accordion (with curved keyboard).

I doubt you'll ever see one likethis again. Everyone who hears it orplays it comments on the very high quality of the bellows and the sound, and ofthe playability. It will easily hold itsown in a performing group of any genre.

I have been in personal written contactwith the Hohner Service Department in Trossingen, who were unable to tell mehow many examples of this model [in either black or mother of pearl celluloid] weremade, because 'there is no overview of the number of individual modelsbuilt.' [I understand that Hohner'sserial numbers were sequential over all models with no separate groupings bymodel.] I have heard estimates from 600to 2000, but I'll take Hohner's word for it.

The accordion weighs a light 20pounds, making it ideal for the performing professional -- standing orstrolling.

Condition: Excellent. Always well cared for [my father has ownedthis accordion for over 30 years]. Professionallyfully refurbished in 2015, and professionally inspected with minor servicing in2016. The Hohner 'Prospectus of1938,' describes it as 'a very good value and wonderful accordion, tothe highest requirements.' Thereare two very small pieces of ivory trim missing, but you'll have to look hard tosee that.

Case: Original case, specially shaped for this accordion, shows some wearafter almost 80 years, but is fully useable.
