When parking the machine, stop on a level surface and disengage the mower blades. Lower the attachments all the way down, set the parking brake, and stop the engine. Take out the key and wait for the engine and attachments to completely stop moving before leaving the seat. Remove the spark plug or disconnect the negative battery cable before working on your tractor.
- Step 1: Park your equipment in a safe area.
- Step 2: Place wooden blocks under the mower deck on each side. Move the attachment lift lever to its lowest setting, bringing the deck down onto the wooden blocks you’ve placed.
- Step 3: If your equipment has a 42 inch deck, disconnect the mower engagement drive cable that is located on the left side of the mower deck. To do this, remove the spring locking pin and pull the mower engagement drive cable out. Lift it and remove it from the bracket. Remove the cable spring from the idler sheave bracket.
- Step 4: Lock the lift lever.
- Step 5: Remove the spring locking pins and washers from each side. Disconnect the rear draft arm and adjustable link lifts on each side.
- Step 6: Remove the spring locking pin and washer, as well as the front draft rod from the mower deck bracket.
- Step 7: Remove the mower drive belt from the drive sheave.
- Step 8: Take the wooden blocks out from both sides of the mower deck.
- Step 9: Slide the mower deck out from under the tractor.
- Step 10: If you’re going to operate the tractor without the mower deck attached, remove the front draft from the tractor and attach it to the mower deck.
- Step 11: For a 42 inch deck, push the mower engagement drive cable into the clip and hook the end of the cable spring with hardware into the peg on the left side of the machine frame.
